Paralympic dreams come true for Scott Sabolich and his amputee athletes bringing home the Gold
Scott Sabolich Prosthetics & Research in Oklahoma City, OK, trampled the competition and took home 3 gold, 6 silver, 1 bronze medal, and 6 world records, in the Paralympic Games in Beijing, China. Scott Sabolich himself was chosen to be Team USA’s prosthetist and had 8 of his own athletes competing. These award-winning amputees have been an inspiration by overcoming their personal challenges of being classified as disabled to become the best athletes in the world.
2 Local amputees from Edmond, Katrin Green and JB Bizzell, took home gold medals in track and field events for the Scott Sabolich United team. Katrin won in the 200-meter dash and JB in the 4 x 100 relay with Team USA. JB, a new amputee from just 17 months, also took home two silver medals for the 200 and 400 meter dashes, breaking 3 world records in those competitions.
Another Medallist, Earle Connor, easily won the gold and remained the world record holder in the 100-meter race. Earle has been traveling from Canada to Oklahoma to see Scott Sabolich for the fabrication of his custom sprinting prosthesis for the last decade. Connor has said, “I travel the distance because I know I am getting the best of the best.” Connor has held his title of the world’s fastest above-knee amputee since the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
